Boyd Lee Cormeny, age 62, of Moravia, Iowa, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at his home.
Boyd was born on October 22, 1955, in Centerville, the son of Robert "Gene" and Mavis (Hatfield) Cormeny. He graduated from Centerville High School. He was united in marriage to Beverly Joyce Simmons on October 4, 1984 in Ottumwa, Iowa.
During school, Boyd helped on the family dairy farm. After high school, Boyd became a dog catcher. Soon after, he was employed for McGraw and Edison until their closing. He then drove a semi for many years. Most recently, he was employed through the North Antelope Rochelle Mine in Wright, Wyoming. He recently retired.
Boyd loved to bowl, hunt, camp and fish. He was an avid gun collector, and was a member of The Gillette Gun Club. He enjoyed watching football, shopping, and in his younger days, playing slow pitch softball for the Numa Rats. He thoroughly enjoyed watching the stock market any chance he got.
Boyd is survived by his children, Mescha (David) Bunnell, Nina Cormeny, Kimberly (Phil) Koenen, and Ginny Cormeny; five step children, Brenda Wray, Rhonda Owens, Richard Welch, Brian Welch, and Brent Welch; a brother, Joe Cormeny; a mother-in-law, Alice Simmons; his in-laws, Troy Foster, Carla Cormeny, Charlotte Senior, Patricia Simmons, Gary Simmons, and Danny Simmons; as well as twenty grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Boyd was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Cormeny; his parents, Gene and Mavis Cormeny; a brother, Larry "Tiny" Cormeny; a sister, Rhonda Foster; and two infant siblings, Steven and Debra Cormeny.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12PM, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Jim Schweizer officiating. Inurnment will follow at Hilltown Cemetery, south of Moulton. A visitation will take place Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with family greeting friends from 10AM-12PM.
