Carylon L. Robinson, age 70, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March11, 2018 at Ridgecrest Village in Davenport, Iowa.
Carylon was born on September 1, 1947 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of William and Marguerite (Starr) Robinson. She graduated from Bloomfield High School.
Carylon worked as a milkmaid, waitress, dry cleaning store manager and Certified Nurses Aid. She began her career as a CNA later in life, but quickly excelled at it, even earning awards for excellence. She felt truly proud of her work with nursing home residents, and always strived to be a friend to those in her care. Later when she became a resident herself, she continued to use her CNA skills to help other residents, especially her roommates and those that needed just a little extra attention.
She loved country music and driving fast cars. Later when she couldn’t drive the fast cars, she became a Nascar fan and especially followed #3, Dale Earnhardt.
Carylon lived her life in various parts of the midwest and south, from Iowa to Texas (and parts in between). In her later years, the gypsy returned to Centerville, Iowa, and settled back down to be close to her family and grandchildren. If you got a chance to know Carylon it wouldn’t take long to get her to talk about her grandsons, her niece and nephews as well as her great-nieces and great-nephew.
Being a great cook, Carylon often hosted family gatherings where she made all the favorites. She enjoyed looking at all kinds of recipe books especially church cookbooks. In recent weeks, she talked often of family gatherings at her apartment where she cooked for everyone, her son brought the sweet treats he made to share, and her son-in-law made her favorite coleslaw recipe.
Left to honor Carylon’s memory are her daughter, Kimberly (Jason) Albrecht and son, Quinn, of Davenport and Kevin Roseman and his sons, Tommy and Tyler, of Liberty, Missouri; her mother, Marguerite Robinson of Bloomfield; her brothers, Jack Robinson of Bloomfield and Charles (Mary) Robinson of Anamosa.
Carylon was preceded in death by her father, William Robinson.
Per Carylon's wishes, cremation has been accorded. There will be no scheduled services at this time. Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville has been entrusted with caring for Carylon's family. Memorials have been established to St. Jude's Hospital, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544. Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com.
