Welcome to the memorial page for

Curtis Eugene Snowden

February 9, 1953 ~ November 21, 2017 (age 64)

Curtis Eugene Snowden, age 64, of Seymour, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at his home.

Curtis was born on February 9, 1953 in Hollister, Missouri, the son of Clinton and Violet (Horn) Snowden.  He was raised by his cousin, Edith and Ottis Honsinger from 9 months old until their deaths.  He was then raised by their daughter, Juanita Patrick.  He went to Reeds Springs High School.

Curtis worked various jobs in his lifetime.  He worked on oil rigs from 1976-1980 in Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, North Dakota, and California.  From 1977-1979, he was employed as a Cotton Gin worker in southern Texas and New Mexico.  In 1981-1983, he worked as a day laborer at a Steel foundry in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  From 1980-1984, he worked in the building demolition field in Amarillo, Texas.  From the winter of 1984 to the late spring of 1985, he was a horse groomer for a horse farm and racing paddock.  In April of 2000 through August of 2003, he worked as a mechanic and a state safety inspector in Pampa, Texas. In the years not listed, he was self employed buying and selling scrap metal or cut firewood.  He loved all of his jobs, but mostly enjoyed riding freight trains to different places, such as Texas, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana to find work.  On those train rides, he saw and experienced the most beautiful and spiritual places that God has made for us.

He was a very loving father and Papa.  Curtis enjoyed life, family members, and friends.  He was always there to help anyone in need.  He loved spending time with family, fishing, working on old motorcycles, driving around the old dirt roads looking for junk or just admiring the beautiful countryside.

Curtis is survived by his daughter, Juanita (Mike) Lund, and their children, Kayden Snowden and Mason Lund, all of Seymour; three brothers, Jerry Snowden, Bobby Snowden, and Gary Snowden; three sisters, Vicki Morrow, Barbra Comer, and Jenny Snowden; cousins, Jason Patrick and children, and Cindy (Patrick) Davis and children; nieces and nephews, Leann (Morrow) Myers, Charlie Fagan, Rachel Nickels, Cindy (Comer) Todd, Duster Comer, Joshua Snowden, Jordan Snowden and Becky Truelove.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Violet Snowden; a brother, Tommy Snowden; cousins, Edith Honsinger, Juanita Patrick and three of her children, Curtis Patrick, Belinda Patrick and Mike Patrick; and a nephew, Seth Fagan.
