Jack Lyle Blanchard, age 65 of Moravia, Iowa, formerly of Allerton, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Jack was born in Corydon, Iowa on April 26, 1952, the son of Alva and Georgetta "Georgie" (Woodard) Blanchard.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in his early adult years. After a brief stint in the service, Jack was honorably discharged.
Jack held numerous jobs throughout his lifetime. Most recently, he was active in "Experience Work," a work training program at Sharon Bluffs State Park in Centerville, Iowa, where he learned groundskeeping training skills.
Jack loved to spend time with family and friends. Furthermore, his favorite thing in the world were dogs.
He is survived by his four sisters, Vivian Williams of Topeka, Kansas, Linda Hilty of Centerville, Iowa, Lenore Blanchard of Moravia, Iowa, and Anna Louise Bair (Dennis Carter) of Bloomfield, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; along with other family and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles R. Ricker; a sister, Georgia Clair Rose; as well as an infant great, great niece.
Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life Service in Jack's honor will be held in the near future. Memorials have been established to the family of Jack Blanchard and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
