Janice Eleanor Middleton, age 80, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa.
She was born December 16, 1936 on the family farm near Albia, Iowa to the late Charles and Cecil (Smith) Williams and was the youngest of 9 children.
She worked as a cook in a nursing home, and was also a housekeeper and lived in Leon, Iowa for most of her life. Janice was fondly known as Nanny by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved mushroom hunting, fishing, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed watching movies, reading, playing pitch, playing bingo and square dancing.
Janice was preceded in death by parents Charles and Cecil Williams and her brothers Gilbert Williams, Lester Williams, Dale Williams, Keith Williams, Glen Williams, and Calvin Williams, sisters Sylvia (Williams) Purdin and Lena (Willliams) Scoffinger, sons John and Mark, and daughter Janet.
Janice is survived by her loving daughter Rose Oglesbee and partner Bob Walker of Centerville, Iowa, grandchildren Janice Bellon Powders and husband David of Seymour, Iowa, Felicia Bellon Nickell of Corydon, Iowa, Casey Bellon Parkhurst and husband Kenneth of Wichita Falls, Texas, Jacob Dunbar of Des Moines, Iowa, and Cynthia Middleton of Creston, Iowa. She is also survived by great grandchildren Cori Powders, Cami Powders, Cobi Norris, Tayler Nickell, Seth Parkhurst and Shaelyn Parkhurst.
Arrangements are entrusted to Lange Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in Centerville at Lange Funeral Home at 10AM on Monday, April 17, 2017 with Pastor C.J. McMurry officiating.
