Monte Lewis Albers, age 65, of Moravia, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 17th, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Monte was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on April 12th, 1952, to Lloyd and Betty Albers of Belle Plaine. Monte was united in marriage to Dana Kaster on January 12th, 1974. To this union, two children were born, Andy and Ben.
Monte graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1970. He liked the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed working on tractors, woodworking, farming, playing poker, and most of all enjoyed being around his grandkids, Emmitt and Isabella. He also enjoyed being around his great nephews, Nick, Dave, and Nate, and great niece Alaina. Monte also really enjoyed spending time with his siblings.
He was a farmer in Missouri, worked at the Moravia sawmill, Rubbermaid in Centerville, and retired from Worley (Schanker). After retirement, he enjoyed working at O’Reilly’s in Trenton.
Monte is survived by his children, Andy (Angie) Albers of Brooklyn, IA and Ben (Kathy) Albers of Michigan; sisters, Ann Dusenberry (Joe) of Princeton, MO and Beth Laws of Trenton, MO; brothers, Jack Albers (Alice) of Trenton, MO, and Judd Albers (Peggy) of Omaha, NE, and his brother-in-law, Joe Kaster.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dana (of 33 years), parents Lloyd and Betty Albers, brothers-in-law, Paul Bennell and Dan Laws, sister-in-law, Francis Bennell, a nephew, Bobby Kaster, and two nieces, Jennifer Roberts and Melissa Galbreath.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, February 23, 2018 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Moravia from 10AM-12PM. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
