Nancy Ewing, age 63 of Unionville, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Hospice House of Davis and Wapello County in Ottumwa.
Nancy was born on May 26, 1954 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Ira "Mac" and Marjorie (McGuire) McConnell. She graduated from Centerville High School, with the Class of 1973. On July 22, 1973, Nancy was united in marriage to Dave Ewing at the First United Methodist Church in Centerville. From this union, four children were born, Chad, Brian, Richard, and Jason.
Nancy worked as a CNA for many years. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Centerville for a brief period of time, before accepting a position at the Ottumwa Regional Heath Center. Most recently, she worked for the Hospice House of Davis and Wapello County in Ottumwa for a period of 12 years. In the late 1980's, Nancy became a Certified EMT-B. She was one of the founding members of the Unionville First Responders in Unionville, Iowa, and remained a first responder for several years.
It should also be noted that Nancy dedicated many years of hard work at the family's woodworking business, Ewing Hardwoods.
In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, golfing and dancing. Most of all, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Dave Ewing of Unionville, Iowa; her children, Brian (Amanda) Ewing of Milo, Iowa, Richard (Denise) Ewing of Unionville, Iowa, Jason (Jessica) Ewing of Unionville, Iowa; six grandchildren, Brogan Ewing, Belle Ewing, Zaylie Ewing, Layla Ewing, Blake Ewing, Blaine Ewing; her sister, Rosemary Reed of Pella, Iowa; a niece, Marsena Reed of Pella, Iowa; an uncle, Robert (Pat) McConnell of Texas; as well as numerous cousins, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira "Mac" and Marjorie McConnell; a son, Chad Ewing; and three brothers, David McConnell, Craig McConnell, and Chris McConnell.
Funeral services will be held at 10AM, Monday, June 19, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Dennis Doud officiating. Interment will follow in the Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, Iowa. A visitation will take place from 5-8PM Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville.
