Nelson Andrew Blades,of Unionville, Missouri,age 13 year and 10 months, passed away peacefully in his mother’s arms and holding his father’s hand at 11:56 PM Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Nelson was born on May 22, 2004 to Anthony and Patsy (Bahler) Blades. He had Cerebral Palsy from birth. He later developed an additional movement disorder and had been dependent on oxygen for the past year and a half.
Nelson attended church at the Unionville Christian Brotherhood Amish Mennonite church where all the children enjoyed pushing him in his wheel chair and helping feed him through his stomach tube. The church provided much needed support for Nelson throughout his life.
Nelson attended the Putnam County schools from 1st grade until 7th grade when his health deteriorated. The teachers and staff were undaunting in their efforts to provide a superior education for him. They were never satisfied with mere mediocracy. Most of all they loved Nelson and claimed him as one of their own.
In addition to his parents Nelson is survived by his siblings; Landon (Rosetta) Blades of Cincinnati, IA, Emma Rose (Ethan) Weaver of Moberly, MO, Evan (Edith) Blades of Unionville, MO, Leah (Josh) Sommers of Cincinnati, IA, Emory (Melody) Blades of Fredonia, KY, Levi, Clara, Arlen, Jesse and Lydia Blades all of the home. Nelson is also survived by 6 nephews and 4 nieces, his maternal grandmother Karla Bahler of Wolcott, IN, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, his maternal grandfather and one niece.
The family wishes God’s blessings on each one who has touched Nelson’s life. The many practical acts of love and support have been appreciated during this time.
Today, Nelson runs with Jesus across the fields of Heaven.
