Thelma Christine Johnson, age 81, of Centerville, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at her home.
Thelma was born on March 28, 1936 in Unionville, Missouri, the daughter of Frank Lee and Annis Belle (Robb) Fitzwater.
Thelma was a kind and gentle person, who loved spending time with her friends and family. It was often said that there wasn't a stranger that she didn't know-or a smile kept to oneself. She believed everyone deserved a second chance. She was also the "Queen of Yard Sales". She would host or find a yard sale every chance she got.
Left to honor Thelma's memory are her children, Chanice (Betty) Fitzwater of Centerville, Iowa, John (Becky) Simmons of College Station, Texas, Robert Trenter of Milan, Missouri, Alice (Tony) Wattenbarger of Unionville, Missouri, Tammy Bedwell of Colfax, Iowa, Clara (Larry) Culp of Des Moines, Annie (Bryan) Lamb of Granger, Iowa, Candy Johnson of Centerville, Iowa and David Johnson of Colfax, Iowa; seven step children; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Johnson, her parents, Frank Lee and Annis Belle Fitzwater; two sisters, Leto Elizabeth and Alice Cooley; a brother, Frank "Jackie" Fitzwater; a great niece, Joni Elliot; a great nephew, Larry Tingley; her ex-husband, Bob Trenter; and two step children.
Cremation has been accorded and there will be no services at this time. Lange Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with caring for Thelma's family.
