Alois Darlene (Bates) Cochran, age 88, of Cincinnati, Iowa, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Centerville Specialty Care.
Alois Darlene was born July 1, 1930 in Beaman, Iowa, the daughter of Estel D. and Golda Iva (Brown) Bates. She attended schools in Iowa and Missouri. She graduated from Cincinnati High School with the Class of 1949. She was united in marriage to Ivan Darold Cochran on July 25, 1953 in Newtown, Missouri. To this union, the couple were blessed with two children, Gary Lynn and Karee Dea Cochran.
Alois Darlene and Ivan celebrated nearly sixty-three years of marriage, before Ivan passed away on June 18, 2016. She was a busy stay at home mom, a Boy Scout and a Girl Scout (Brownies) Leader, Sunday School Teacher, ect. She babysat over 40 children, and went with her children to school field trips.
Alois Darlene became obedient to her Lord Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 10. On September 1, 1940, Alois Darlene and her younger sister Cora Arlene, were baptized at the Petty Bridge near Mendota, Missouri by Minister James R. McMorrow. The family first attended the East Pleasant Church of Christ in Cincinnati, Iowa, followed by a transitional period, where they would eventually become members of the Centerville Church of Christ. Alois Darlene had been an active member of the church for the past 18 years.
Alois Darlene enjoyed cooking, shopping, getting her hair done of Friday Mornings, going to the Ladies Bible Study class on Tuesday mornings. Most importantly, she led a Christian life and loved her family deeply, including her dog, Fuzzy Wuzzy.
Those left to cherish Alois Darlene’s memory include her two children, Gary Cochran and Karee Cochran, both of Cincinnati; a sister, Cora Arlene (Bates) Miller of Glendale, Arizona; two nephews; three nieces; as well as many great and great-great nephews and nieces.
Alois Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Darold Cochran; her parents, Estel and Golda Bates; her maternal and paternal grandparents; a sister, Marvel Dolores (Bates) Helmick and her husband, Melvin Allen Helmick; a brother in law, Robert Carson Miller; an infant brother, Estel D. Bates Jr.; and an infant niece, Sharon Jolene Helmick.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 PM, Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa, with Pastor Larry Hudson officiating. A visitation will take place on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 1-2 PM. A memorial has been established to the Centerville Church of Christ and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
