Edward Earl Womboldt Jr.

September 22, 1951 ~ February 28, 2018 (age 66)

Edward Earl Womboldt Jr., age 66, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Ed was born on September 22, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Edward Earl Womboldt Sr. and Janet Favinger.  He was raised in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.  He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1969.  Following high school, Ed continued his education at Indian Hills Community College in Centerville.  He played baseball for Indian Hills. 

Ed was united in marriage to Clara Patricia Wells on October 15, 1970 in Unionville, Missouri.  Ed served in the National Guard for two years.  He was then honorably discharged.  In 1971, the couple welcomed their first child, Johnny Patrick Edward Womboldt.  Soon after, in 1972, they welcomed their second child, Bryan Matthew Womboldt.

Ed became a scratch baker at Dahl's for several years until it's closing.  He then retired due to health reasons.  Ed loved Bowling.  He was able to obtain 13-300 games throughout his life, with two of them being back to back games.  He was also a fantastic golfer. 

Left to honor Ed's memory are his wife, Pat Womboldt of Unionville, Missouri; his mother, Janet Womboldt of Unionville, Missouri; his children, Johnny  Womboldt of Unionville, Missouri, and Bryan Womboldt of Unionville, Missouri; a brother, Marc (Sharon) Womboldt of Frisco, Texas; a granddog, Molly; a best friend, Ron Masters of Olathe, Kansas; as well as numerous friends and family members.

Ed was preceded in death by his father, Edward Earl Womboldt Sr.; and his grandparents.

Cremation has been accorded, and there are no scheduled services at this time.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Memorials have been established to the family of Edward Womboldt Jr., and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.  Condolences may be shared online at
