Elva Louise (Hall) Mericle

September 12, 1962 ~ August 5, 2019 (age 56)

Elva “Louise” Mericle, commonly known as “Mrs. Mericle”, age 56, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Louise was born on September 12, 1962 in Unionville, Missouri, the daughter of Melvin Loran Hall and Jaunita Fern (Bowman) Hall.  After graduating from Putnam County High School, she furthered her education by attending Northeast Missouri State (Truman State) University for 2 years.  Louise then met the love of her life, and was united in marriage to Dan Mericle on January 23, 1982.  To this union, three children were born, Jenny, Denise, and Andy.  After the children started school, Louise attended Graceland University, and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  Later, she attended Viterbo University, receiving her Master’s degree in Elementary Education.  She taught at Lakeview Elementary School for over twenty years until her retirement.

 Louise was an active member of the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Centerville.  She absolutely loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, and collecting frogs.

 Left to cherish Louise’s memory are her husband of 37 years, Dan Mericle of Centerville; her parents, Melvin (Jaunita) Hall of Lemons, Missouri; her children, Jenny (Robert) Jamison of Huxley, Iowa, Denise (Rob) Matherly of Centerville, and Andy (Arianna) Mericle of Centerville; a brother, Robert (Angie) Hall of DeKalb, Missouri; two sisters, Yvonne (Bill) Cressy of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Tracy McDaniel of Seymour, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Gavin Jamison, Olivia Matherly, James Matherly Jr., Korbin Jamison, Dani Matherly, Reicin Jamison, and Brycin Jamison; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will all miss her dearly.

 Louise was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Luella Mericle; a niece, McKynlee Hall; and a brother-in-law, Mark Mericle.

 Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Centerville with Pastor Adam Standley officiating.  Louise will be laid to rest following the funeral service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia.  Visitation will be Friday, August 9, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 5:00PM-8:00PM.
