Ernestine Rae Argo, age 100, of Pleasant Hill, formerly of Moravia, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Park Ridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill.
She was born in Appanoose County, Iowa, on September 16, 1919, the daughter of Ernest and Mamie Stauber. Ernestine graduated from Moravia High School in 1936. She continued her education at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, where she obtained a degree in elementary education. Ernestine later taught three years in LeRoy, Iowa.
Ernestine was united in marriage to Roy Gerald Argo on October 12, 1940. The couple cherished many wonderful memories together until Roy’s passing in 1984.
Ernestine enjoyed many hobbies in life, such as shopping, daily car drives to Centerville, square dancing, playing rook, and cooking for family and friends. Most importantly, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Iconium United Methodist Church. Ernestine dedicated countless hours to the church she loved so dearly.
Ernestine is survived by her two children, Gerald Lee (Minnie) Argo of Carlisle, Iowa, and Dennis Ray (Nancy) Argo of Weslaco, Texas; five grandchildren, Scott (Nadine) Argo, Teresa (Tom) Boatman, Russell Argo, Melinda (Rey) Pitt, and Bryon (Heather) Argo; nine great grandchildren, Tim Argo, Trevor Argo, Anne Boatman, Ellie Boatman, Shawn Pitt, Megan Pitt, Jason Argo, Austin Argo, and Faith Argo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Stauber and Mamie Stauber Tisue; her husband, Roy Argo; two children, Kenneth Jay Argo and Vicki Eileen Argo; two siblings, Evelyn Stauber Nash and Carl Tisue; and a step brother, Clifford Tisue.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia with Pastor Richard Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Moravia. A visitation will take place Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia from 9 AM-2 PM, with the family greeting friends from 1-2 PM.
