Kyle Andrew Koch

December 11, 1973 ~ November 8, 2018 (age 44)

Kyle Andrew Koch, age 44, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at his home.

Kyle was born on December 11, 1973 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Paul Andrew and Lynne Renee (Anderson) Koch.  He graduated from Seymour High School, with the Class of 1992.  He then furthered his education at Indian Hills Community College, earning his drafting degree.  He was united in marriage to Stephanie (Conn) Garretson on July 2, 2011.  From this union, Kyle gained two children, Chelsea and Clay.

Kyle's entire family was the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of Kyle’s kind spirit, passion for sports, especially watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs play football, and his zest for life will live on through them. He also enjoyed spending time with his nephews and his friends.  Kyle enjoyed golfing with friends and family even though he had a love/hate relationship with golf.  In his earlier years, he enjoyed spending time at Lake Rathbun, and later at Lake Thunderhead.  In recent years, he enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair with his family.

In his youth, Kyle showed livestock, and enjoyed working at the Wayne County Fair.  Currently, Kyle worked at WINBCO in Ottumwa in the Customer Relations Department, where he has been employed since October 3, 1994.  He was also a member of the Seymour United Methodist Church.

Left to honor Kyle’s memory are his wife, Stephanie Koch; his children, Chelsea (Virgil) Shondel and Clay Garretson; his parents, Paul (Lynne) Koch; a grandchild, Reed Shondel; in-laws, Joe (Sandy) Conn; a sister, Kendra (Joe) Carter; nephews, Hunter Carter and Conrad Carter; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his beloved dog, Diesel.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Laurel “Fed” and Vera Anderson; and his paternal grandparents, Chris and Clara Koch.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11AM, at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Jan Spurgeon officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Crossroads Cemetery, near Plano.  A Visitation will take place on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 5-8PM.  Memorials have been established to the family of Kyle Koch, to be determined at a later date, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.  Condolences may be shared online at
