Lyle was born on October 6, 1929 in Clio, Iowa, the son of William Noah Kesterson and Luella Valentine (Sorrels) Kesterson.  He graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1947.  Following high school, Lyle was drafted into the United States Army on October 2, 1951.  He served his country faithfully, during the Korean War era, serving in Alaska, and was honorably discharged on September 22, 1953. He married Barbara Jeanne Spurgeon, and to this union, three children were born, Randy, Kris and Lori.  They were later divorced. He was united in marriage to Natalie (Scott) Broshar on September 22, 2003 in Payson, Arizona.  From this union, he gained two children, Christopher and Marla.

Lyle was employed with Iowa Southern Utilities for over forty years, starting as a Draftsman, and he went on to become Manager of Substations and Maintenance Engineering.  He was a long-time member of the Appanoose County Country Club.  Lyle was an avid golfer, and he “shot his age” multiple times and had 2 holes in one.  He and his son, Kris, together wrote a book about the history of the Appanoose County Country Club.  Lyle spent many hours at the library getting information and pictures.  They also interviewed many people involved with the club.  He enjoyed every minute of it.  In his earlier years, he coached the Iowa Southern Utilities Little League baseball team.  He especially enjoyed coaching his children.  He will be forever remembered as a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Left to honor Lyle’s memory are his wife, Natalie Kesterson of Centerville; his children, son, Randy (Susan) Kesterson of Davidson, North Carolina, and his children, Chase Kesterson of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mike (Sara) Kesterson of Jefferson, North Carolina, and Nicole (Barry) Dyche of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter, Lori (Terry) Sharp of Indianola, and her children, Amanda (John) Adkins and Kelsey Sacco, both of Roanoke, Texas; son, Kris Kesterson of Des Moines; Lyle’s great grandchildren, Mason Kesterson, Major Kesterson, Arden Dyche, Harper Adkins and James Adkins; his step children, Christopher (Joni) Broshar of Centerville, and Marla Morlan of Moulton and her children, Hayden and Clayton Morlan; as well as a long-time friend, Kent Morlan.
