Patricia Ann (Hoffman) Willingham

June 20, 1939 ~ October 14, 2019 (age 80)

Obituary

Patricia Ann Willingham, age 80 of Numa, Iowa, passed away Monday October 14, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.

Patricia was born on June 20, 1939 in Cincinnati, Iowa to Robert and Vera (Flattery) Hoffman.

Patricia left home at age 18, moved to Des Moines, and started her first job waitressing at Bolton and Hay. This is where she met her first husband Jesse W. Bacon and moved to Savannah, GA.  He preceded her in death.

She later married Judson Hall, moving to Honolulu, HI on the Naval Base and then on to Richmond, VA where they later divorced.

While still in Virginia, she met and married Kenneth Willingham and moved to Numa, IA where they raised their eight children.

Patricia enjoyed being a stay at home Mom and raising her children, tending to her garden and taking care of her hobby farm where she had a variety of animals. She started working at Wells Manufacturing in 1986. She was proud of her many years of perfect attendance until her health forced her to retire at 72 years of age.  Throughout her life she was a hard worker, and it showed in every aspect of her life.

Patricia will be remembered for her fierce competitiveness at playing Pitch at the card table. She enjoyed College and NFL football, cooking big dinners for her family; even the neighborhood kids came to her place to eat, calling her "Ma Brown". She was known for her Special K Candy, which she made every year for Halloween and many generations would come to Trick or Treat for it. She loved listening and singing old country songs, going to the casino, watching the Game Show Network, Cooking Channels and never missed an episode of World News Tonight with David Muir. She enjoyed watching her geese and chickens from the back deck. But most of all she loved spending time with her family, spoiling her grandkids (singing all of them, "Bye Bye Buntin") and looking forward to all of the get-togethers, visits and phone calls and porch sitting for long hours with loved ones.

Left to cherish Patricia's memory are her children; Jesse Bacon, Kathleen Saunders, Pamela Hall, Douglas Hall, Steven (Dee) Hall, Veronica Bachman (Michael "Dickie" Collins) and Kenneth (Chanda) Willingham Jr.; two siblings Katie Roberts and Wayne Hoffman; 19 grandchildren, Jesse and Kimberly Bacon, Kordel and Dreyvon Saunders, Zachary Miller, Samantha and Sabrina Westmoreland, Meghan Cory, Hayley Bacon, Amie, Kent, Tyler and Evan Hall, Baily Willingham (Blake DeVore) and Branson Bachman (Maranda Rupalo), Rilee, Ethan, Kenlee and Owen Willingham and three great grandchildren, Jesse Bacon III, Brian McGruder, and Hayden Warren.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Willingham Sr.; her parents Robert and Vera Hoffman; a son, David Hall; four sisters, Marilyn Anderson, Donna Fowler, Betty Winner, and Dorothy Newell; two brothers Mike Hoffman and Wendell Hoffman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Christy Ehrle officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati.  A visitation will take place Friday, October 18, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM.  A memorial has been established to the Family of Patricia Willingham, to be determined at a later date, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.  Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com.
