Walter “Buck” Scott Jr., age 80, of Moravia, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 01, 2019 at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.
He was born to Walter and Marjorie (Johnson) Scott on August 29, 1938 in Centerville, Iowa. Walter graduated from Moravia High School in 1956.
Following high school graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army. After completing two years of faithful service, Walter was honorably discharged from the Army.
Walter was united in marriage to Margret Jayne Stocker on December 28, 1957 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia. To this union of marriage, three children were born, Kristy, Jeff, and Bryan.
Walter worked in the lumber yards in both Albia and Moravia for over fifty years until his retirement.
In his free time, Walter enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, fishing, hunting, and cutting firewood. Most importantly, he cherished his family.
Walter is survived by his two children, Kristy (Jerry) Coatney of Brazil, Iowa, and Bryan (Lori) Scott of Moravia, Iowa; four grandchildren, Tess (Kalvin) Hill of Bloomfield, Iowa, Cameron (Xaviera) Scott of Moravia, Iowa, Noah Coatney of Iowa City, Iowa, and Abby Coatney of Brazil, Iowa; two great grandchildren, Braxton and Ivan Hill; a sister, Sondra (Dave) Scott of Albia, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Margret Scott on August 10, 2014; a son, Jeffrey “Big” Scott; and five siblings, Maxine Ewing, Lois Caster, Charlotte Tisue, Jack Scott, and Billy Joe Scott.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia, Iowa, with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. A memorial has been established to the Walter Scott Jr. Memorial Fund, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
