Winnogene Faye (Horn) Anderson, age 92 of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, September 03, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
Winnogene was born on July 30, 1927 in Davis County, Iowa, the daughter of Bert and Elsie (McCullough) Horn. She graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1945. On August 23, 1947, she was united in marriage to Clarence LaVerne Anderson, and to this union, two children were born, Linda and Pam. Clarence and Winnogene shared over sixty-seven years of marriage before he passed away.
Winnogene worked with her husband at Anderson Propane for many years. Upon retiring, Clarence and Winnogene purchased a 5th Wheel RV and spent the next twenty (plus) years wintering in Texas, where Winnogene enjoyed singing at jam sessions. The couple developed many friendships in Texas. She loved cooking, sewing her children’s clothes for many years, as well as an avid gardener. Winnogene was a 4H leader for many years. She was also a member of the Mt. Ararat Church for numerous years.
Left to cherish Winnogene’s memory are her two children, Linda (Jack) Pfeifer of West Des Moines, Iowa and Pam (Bill) Milani of Centerville, Iowa; three grandchildren, Tony Milani, Lucia (Darrel) Jones and Joe Milani; three step grandchildren, Jerry Pfeifer, Shelley (Ron) Seifried and Dana (Tom) Hartnagel; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Winnogene was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Anderson; her parents, Bert and Elsie Horn; and her siblings, Glenice Hoover, Leota Hopkins, Lois Newell, as well as a set of twins, Mary and Martha; and another infant sister, Georgia.
A visitation will take place Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 2:00-3:00PM. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 3:00PM, Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Dennis Higgins officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Ararat Cemetery, east of Centerville. Memorials have been established to the Mt.
