Babbette “Babs” Sue Thomas, age 58 of Centerville, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

Babs was born on May 2, 1962 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Omer Hatfield and Maxine (Armstrong) Hatfield.  She attended Centerville schools.  Babs was united in marriage to Herbert Thomas Jr., and to this union, three children were born, Heather, Jennifer and Jesse.  The couple later divorced.  For the past 21 years, she has been with her partner, Scott Hukriede, and to this relationship, a daughter, Madison was born.

Babs worked at Homestead of Centerville as the supervisor of the kitchen, Centerville Community Betterment for about five years, at the Continental Hotel on the Centerville square for a period of time, and when she lived in Mystic, she enjoyed bartending.
