A life remembered-

Carolyn Maxine (Hope) Sullivan, age 80 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Centerville Specialty Care.  Before Carolyn took ill, she resided at Senior Loft Apartments in Centerville.

Carolyn was born on August 14, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa, the youngest of 13 children born to Sigurd and Martha Emma Thalethia (Danielson) Hope.

Carolyn enjoyed many hobbies throughout her lifetime, including quilt making, cookouts with family, reading books, yard sales, thrift stores, talking on the phone with her sister Jean, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles and mushroom hunting. Carolyn was also fond of Tweety Bird, going to the Second Time Around store, and being a giver-always thinking of others. One of her favorite things to do was try new foods that her friends and family would make, and then wanting their recipe.

She also believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was an active church attendee while living in Waterloo, Iowa for 23 years prior to moving to Centerville. Most importantly, Carolyn selflessly loved and cared for her family.   They always came first. She cherished the time spent with loved ones, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Left to honor her memory include her four children, Christine (Tim) Schellhase of LaFontaine, Indiana, David Sullivan of Centerville, Iowa, Jim (Leslie) Sullivan of Norwich, Kansas, and Julie Elarton of Centerville, Iowa; five grandchildren, Zach (Malinda) Elarton, Tim (Lacy Ruth) Hatfield, Joshua Hatfield, Emmy (Jeremy) Weidner, and Morgan Sullivan; a grand-dog, Baby; eight great grandchildren, Zayla Elarton, Valerie Elarton, Cahalan Elarton, Dawson Hatfield, Avianna Hatfield, Dexliy Hatfield, Willem Weidner, and Owen Weidner; as well as two siblings, Jean Kurtz of Davenport, Iowa and Lester Hope of Fayette, Iowa.
