David Ray Curtis, age 67 of Promise City, left this life Monday, July 5, 2021 in his hometown. David was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Centerville, Iowa on February 26, 1954, to Eston D. Curtis and Ethel (Poe) Curtis.
David loved the outdoors; being an avid fisherman, huntsman, and he was interested in the study of rocks. He also studied the history of the Native Americans around the Wayne County area as well as other tribes.
David was employed at Edison-McGraw in Centerville for a period of time, and later, he worked at Heatilator in Centerville until they moved to Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed working on anything mechanical. In his last years, he helped care for his parents, as well as his oldest sister, Virginia. David was very well thought of by many.
Left to honor David’s memory is his brothers; Eston Gene Curtis, Lloyd E. Curtis, and Timothy A. Curtis, sisters; Betty Joan Galbreath, Thelma I. Curtis, and Ella Elaine Recoy; as well as many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Eston and Ethel Curtis; a brother, Robert E. Curtis; and two sisters, Virginia Corbett, and Arlene Nichols-Easton.
Graveside services will be Friday, July 16th 2021 at 11:00 a.m at Promise City Cemetery in Promise City, Iowa.
