Denise Danielle Dillon age 54, of Centerville passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 at her home surrounded by her children.
Denise was born on November 8, 1966 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Kenneth and Betty (Mitchell) Scott. She graduated from Plainfield High School with the Class of 1985. She continued her education at Indian Hills Community College, graduating with her Associate’s Degree, and as an LPN in 1998. On December 31, 1987, Denise was united in marriage to David Thomas Dillon at the Presbyterian Church in Green Castle, Indiana. To this union, three children were born, Sosia, Eryn and Drew.
When the children were young, Denise owned and operated Grandma’s Garden. She began her nursing career in 1998 after graduation. She was employed through Multi Specialty Nursing for the first several years. Denise then took a break from her nursing career, and purchased a local pet store, which she adored and ran for many years. She went back into nursing and worked for Dr. Batra in Centerville for a few years. The family then moved to Tennessee where she worked in Psychiatry for the last 15 years of her career, helping with in patient alcohol and drug detox.
Denise enjoyed writing, painting, drinking whiskey, and being surrounded by dogs. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.
Left to cherish Denise’s memory are her children, Sosia Kipfer of Albia, Eryn (Tasha) Dillon of Centerville, and Drew (Ally) Dillon of Centerville; her father, Kenneth (Virginia) Scott of Plainfield, Indiana; foster son, Anthony Swindle; brothers, Christopher Scott of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Mark Turley of Indianapolis, Indiana; a sister, Cyndi (Tim) Blocher of Green Castle, Indiana; and six grandchildren, Noah Findley, Collin Kipfer, Miah Kipfer, Coen Dillon, Atlas Dillon and Saylor Thomas.
Denise was preceded in death by her mom, Betty Scott; her husband, David Dillon on April 17, 2020; paternal grandparents, Dennis Burgess and Ruth Burgess; and maternal grandparents, Daniel Ross and Lucille Mitchell.
Cremation has been accorded for both Denise and David. A joint visitation honoring Denise and David will take place Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 4PM-6PM.
