Ethel Lucille McClurg, age 84 of Moulton, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021 at her home.
Ethel was born on February 6, 1937 in rural Moravia, Iowa, the daughter of John Levi Stevens and Opal Irene (Coulson) Stevens. On August 14, 1954 she was united in marriage to Donald Lee McClurg, and to this union, six children were born, Jack, Judy, Janine, Jeanna, James and Janita.
Ethel was a proud farming wife. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing and gardening. Ethel loved cooking, and her specialty was baking bread and rolls. Most importantly, she adored her family, and would always look forward to spending time with them.
Left to cherish Ethel’s memory are her children, Janine McClurg of Centerville, Jeanna (Rusty) Fowler of Altoona, James (Pamela) McClurg of Texas, and Janita (Harry) Williams of Bloomfield; an honorary daughter, Jewel Thompson of Moulton; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Enrique) Ruiz, Brittany (Tony) Beal, John Williams, Logan Williams, and Wyatt Williams; four great grandchildren, Samuel Ruiz, Ezekiel Ruiz, Elsie Beal, and Addie Beal; as well as several extended family and friends.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, John and Opal Stevens; her husband, Donald McClurg, two children, Jack McClurg and Judy McClurg; and four siblings, Naomi McCoy, Leta Holtz, Clyde Stevens, and Ireta Cook.
A private family graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia with Pastor Christy Ehrle officiating. An open visitation will take place Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville from 10:00AM-12:00PM, without the family present.
