James Marion Snook

April 10, 1942 ~ December 2, 2021 (age 79)


James Marion Snook, age 79, of Corydon passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 at his home.

James was born on April 10, 1942 in Wayne County, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Sarah (Clark) Snook.  He graduated from Seymour High School with the Class of 1960.  On September 16, 1962, James was united in marriage to Karen Sue Hardy in Seymour, Iowa.  To this union, two children were born, Roxanne and Jamie.

James worked on a farm for most of his adolescent years.  Shortly after graduating high school, he entered the United States Navy.  He served his country faithfully during the Vietnam Era, and was honorably discharged. After the service, James worked in numerous factories, with his most recent employment at Young Radiator in Centerville. 

He attended Christian Church in Seymour for a period of time.  James enjoyed watching NASCAR and movies, especially westerns with John Wayne in them.  He was very proud to raise animals, including Pheasants, Quail, Ducks, Chickens, Peacocks and numerous other animals.  He was fond of putting model railroads together and tinkering with different things.  He loved being outside bird watching or spending time with his family.

Left to honor James’ memory are his two children, Roxanne Eastlick of Corydon, Iowa, and Jamie Snook of Corydon, Iowa; two grandchildren, Carrie Stroud of Centerville, Iowa and Christy (Kenneth Jr.) Moorman of Corydon, Iowa; three great grandchildren, Alexis Jade Stroud, Jack Dale Stroud, and Takoda Wiatt Moorman; a brother, Joe Snook of Melcher Dallas, Iowa; a sister, Mary Ann Micetich of Centerville; as well as seven nephews, two nieces, and several extended family members.

James was preceded in death by his wife on December 1, 2021, Karen Snook; his parents, Arthur and Sarah Snook; and seven aunts, Dorothy, Betty, Virginia, Donna, Linda, Helen, and Mary Lou.

According to James’ wishes, cremation has been accorded.  Private family services will be held.  Lange Funeral Home and Crematory of Centerville has been entrusted with caring for the family.  Condolences may be shared online at or on our Facebook page.
