Jimmie “Jim” Neal Bowen, age 76, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020.
Jim was born on February 15, 1943 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Doris Myrl Bowen and Ilin Glendola (Cochran) Bowen. He graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1961. On September 4, 1981, Jim was united in marriage to Darlene Jones.
Jim worked as a carpet installer for Factory Direct Carpet in Centerville, under Frank Caraccio for many years.
Jim loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his three beagles Bruno, Ruger, and Ginger. He would often tease his grandchildren and great grandchildren by saying, “A dollar for a kiss”. Besides his family, Jim very much enjoyed hanging out and playing cards with his friends.
Jim was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #2675 in Centerville for many years.
Left to honor Jim’s memory are his wife of 38 years, Darlene Bowen of Centerville; his children, Kathy Bailey of Moravia, Jon (Renee) Foster of Centerville, and JoAnna Veach of Centerville; a brother, John (Barbara) Bowen of Littleton, Colorado; a special sister in law, Joyce Bowen of Centerville; his son in law, John Bailey of Moravia; 13 grandchildren, Jason Horn, Ashley Nail, Kandus Jellison, Raelynn Nail, Justin (Ciara) Richmond, Seth Swarts, Riley Bailey, Brooke Bailey, Breanna Bailey, Tabitha Long, Corder Veach, Mike Prunchak, Ashley Prunchak, and Jamey Foster; numerous great grandchildren; his best friend, Frank (Vickie) Caraccio of Centerville; as well as several other family members, including nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Ilin Bowen; his daughter, Lisa Ann Bowen; and his siblings, Jerry Bowen and Jack Bowen.
According to Jim’s wishes, cremation has been accorded. There will be no scheduled services at this time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Furever Friends and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
