Liddie Lura Foust, age 99, of Centerville, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020 at Centerville Specialty Care in Centerville.
Liddie was born on September 2, 1920 in Vernon County, Missouri, near Nevada, the daughter of John and Veder (Bishop) Bright. She was raised in Vernon County, and attended Olive Branch Country School. Liddie was united in marriage to Albert Elmer Foust on October 2, 1948 in Bentonville, Arkansas. To this union, four children were born, Tom, Gene, Sharon and Lawrence.
Liddie was a seamstress for most of her life. She operated her business from her home for most of her adult life. Liddie loved cooking, and always wanted everyone to walk away full. She would feed anyone who came into her home. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, and just being in the outdoors. Liddie was also a long-time member of the United Methodist Church, working alongside her husband as a pastor’s wife for many years.
Left to cherish Liddie’s memory are her children, Tom Foust of Wichita, Kansas, Gene (Kris) Foust of Kirksville, Missouri, Sharon (David) Powell of Udell, Iowa, and Lawrence Foust of Centerville; seven grandchildren, Randy Foust, Nancy (Rich) Sundheim, Jan (Steve) Woodward, Alan Foust, Lori (Dar) Hurley, Dan (Andrea) Foust, Chad (Katie) Powell; 10 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie (Harold) Richards; two brothers, Mo Bright and James Bright; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Liddie was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Albert Foust on April 7, 1987; her parents, John and Veder Bright; her siblings, Sylvia, Lela, Jean, Sam, Buck, and two infant siblings, Flora and Ruby.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Robert Casady officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Chariton, Missouri. Visitation will take place Thursday, August 6, 2020 at the Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 9:00AM-11:00AM. Memorials have been established to either Centerville Specialty Care or to the Mt. Hermon Cemetery Association and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544. Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com.
