Obituary

Matthew Scott Buckallew, son, fiancé, father, brother, grandpa, uncle, Buck, and friend passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 from complications of COVID at the Northeast Missouri Regional Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri.

Scott was born on May 11, 1969 to Jim and Joyce Buckallew at the Putnam County Hospital in Unionville, Missouri.  Scott was the youngest of four children born to Jim and Joyce.

During Scott’s elementary years, he attended the Cincinnati Elementary and later graduated from Centerville High School in 1988.  After high school, Scott worked at multiple places and was a very hard worker.  Most recently, he worked at Hill Phoenix, where he met the love of his life and fiancé, Tammy Tuttle.  The other great loves of Scott’s life were his daughters, Megan and Rachael, and his grandchildren, Ellen and Oliver.

Scott loved all things outdoors, fishing with his best friend Chubs, camping in his tiny rugged, wilderness proof camper with Tammy and friends, and all things guns.  His love of the outdoors started when Scott was young, going coon hunting with his brothers and fishing with his dad, and it continued to grow throughout his life.  Scott and Tammy had many camping trips planned and were in the process of planning a trip to Alaska with their little camper.  Scott was looking forward to a life with his family and friends and all the adventures they had planned.

Scott’s surviving family include his mother, Joyce Buckallew of Centerville; his fiancé, Tammy of Livonia, Missouri; daughters, Megan Buckallew of Fort Worth, Texas and Rachael Buckallew Reeves of Centerville; his grandchildren, Ellen and Oliver Reeves, Caleb, Eli, Baylor and Huxley; his bonus daughters, Kashayla Rayhons, Josalynn (Dustin) Stickler, Katherine (Anthony) Budiselich and Elizabeth Budiselich; his siblings, John (Gloria) Buckallew of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Mark (Stacey) Buckallew of Sterling, Colorado, Danielle (John) DeKoning of Centerville, Dan Buckallew, Kyndra Buckallew, Tim Buckallew, and Jenna Buckallew; a brother in law, Sam Borger of West, Texas; nieces and nephews, Ted Borger, Jonathon Borger, Samantha Borger, Cailey Buckallew, Joel Buckallew, Jared Buckallew, and Dalton Buckallew; as well as many friends and family.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, James Buckallew; his sister, Debra Borger; and his grandparents, Henry and Lillace Buckallew and Melvin and Ila Stigers.
