Nancy Lee (Wood) Exline, age 84, of Centerville, Iowa passed away Monday, November 3, 2020 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon.
Nancy was born on February 10, 1936 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond Ralph Wood and Mildred (Judy) Wood. She graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1953. In February of 1953, Nancy was united in marriage to M. Duane Exline. To this union, two children were born, Dennis and Rebecca.
After Nancy married Duane, she played team basketball, square danced with the Boots and Saddle Club, water skied and boated on the lake. The couple traveled to many places across the United States, including Hawaii, many western states, Niagara Falls, Ozarks, Minnesota, Florida, and many more.
Nancy worked at Union Carbide/Viskase/Curwood for over 25 years until retirement. Upon retirement, she enjoyed being a farm wife, and did accounting from home for small businesses. During tax season, she worked for Dudenhoeffer Tax service in Centerville. In 1978, she also attended Business classes at Indian Hills Community College.
Nancy recently was a member of the Presbyterian church in Centerville. In the past, she also attended the First United Methodist Church.
Nancy enjoyed reading, quilting, flower gardening, crafting, swimming, and entertaining friends and family at Lake Thunderhead. She was very active in 4H with her children and grandchildren at County and State fairs. She loved traveling with family and friends. Nancy thoroughly enjoyed all of her friends at the 18-80 Club and the Material Girlz Quilt Guild. Most importantly, she adored her four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Left to cherish Nancy’s memory include her two children, Dennis (Kim) Exline of Centerville, Iowa and Rebecca (Darrel “Butch”) Morrow of Centerville; her four grandchildren, Derik Exline of Centerville, Iowa, Rachel (Brad) Ryals and their children Ryker and Rigby of Centerville, Iowa, Kaleb (Bernadette) Morrow and their children Emilia, Alexandria, Lyric, and Mateo of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Sawyer (Amanda) Morrow and their child, Claire of St. Joe, Missouri; a sister, Judy Belle Wood Blake of Rock Island, Illinois; as well as several nieces, nephews and their children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Wood and Mildred Judy Eddy; her husband M. Duane Exline; a sister, Denise Eddy Cassady; a nephew, Chris Vidmar; sisters-in law, Bonnie Talbot and Dixie Vidmar; as well as a brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Wanda Exline.
According to Nancy’s wishes, cremation has been accorded. Private family services will be held with an inurnment taking place at Zoar Cemetery, south of Exline. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the 18-80 Club, Drake Public Library, Zoar Cemetery, or to EveryStep Hospice and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
