Patience C. Hurley, age 39, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020.
Patience was born on November 16, 1980, the daughter of Steven Hurley and Katharine Rick.
Patience was full of life. She would always look for a chance to go rock hunting, fishing, or mushroom hunting. Patience loved playing football and drawing. She was always on the move, especially when it came to junk collecting. No matter what she was doing, Patience looked forward to having an ice-cold beer in her hand at the end of the day. She enjoyed family get togethers, and cherished children. It didn’t matter if they were her family members’ kids, or if she even knew them at all, Patience would always do anything to help a kid in need. She was truly a kid at heart. Most of all, she was very dedicated to her family and friends, and didn’t miss a chance to be with them. Her dog patches, was her best friend and went everywhere with her.
When it came to Patience, she would go the extra mile for anyone. No matter if she knew you or barely knew you, if she knew someone needed help, she would be the first one there to lend a hand. And when Patience loved, she loved hard and you knew it. She was very caring, compassionate and had many genuine qualities. She was probably one of the realist people you could know.
Left to cherish Patience’s memory are her mother, Kathy (Ernest) Collis of Seymour; soul mate and lifelong girlfriend, Becky McConville and her daughter, Zoe Melvin of Centerville; six siblings, Susan Vilvens (Lindsey Barton) of Centerville, Tanya Vandepol of Seymour, Gary Collis (Megan Benshoof) of Seymour, Mike Agan of Altoona, Jake Agan (Darian Spurrier) of Altoona, and Aaron (Amber) Collis of Seymour; fourteen nieces and nephews; three great nieces; as well as a host of friends and other family members.
