Robert (Robbie) Carson Singley, 64, passed into the presence of Jesus on December 25, 2019 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born to Robert Lincoln and Shirley Grace (Piatt) Singley on February 16, 1955 in Centerville, Iowa. He joined one sister, Shelley.
Robbie trusted in Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age and was baptized, becoming a longtime member of the Moulton Christian Church.
He received his education at the Moulton-Udell Community School where he was active in Future Farmers of America. He graduated in 1973 and continued his education at Indian Hills Community College with a focus on Farm Operations. He graduated with an Associate Degree in Applied Science in 1975.
On August 1, 1976, Robbie married Kay Davis and to this union two daughters were born: Andrea and Rachel. Robbie and Kay have celebrated 43 years of marriage.
Farming was Robbie’s vocational passion. For many years, he was a hog producer in partnership with his father and uncle, Terry Piatt. Later, he became bi-vocational as he continued to farm, raising cattle, soybeans, and corn while also working an off-farm job in Eddyville, Iowa. Robbie was a part of the start-up crew for two industries in Eddyville: Ajinimoto and Wacker BioChem. He worked as a Biochemical Technician.
Robbie treasured his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather enjoying family times.
He enjoyed vegetable gardening with family members, researching topics of interest on the Internet, and camping. It was a tradition in the family to camp at the Iowa State Fair for a weekend each year for over forty years. Family trips to points of interest in South Dakota, Oregon, Florida, Wisconsin and Colorado were wonderful times for making memories.
Robbie was active in the Moulton Christian Church serving as a deacon. He ran the sound board for the 33rd Psalms Gospel Singing Group and drove the bus as the group traveled to sing in churches regionally.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eva and Edwin Piatt and his paternal grandparents, George Carson and Myrtle Singley.
He is survived by his wife, Kay, daughter, Andrea (Jeff) DeWeese, daughter, Rachel Singley and friend, Dr. Andrew Bellizzi, M.D.; grandchildren: Darby, Emmalyn, Amelia, Wyatt, and Aidan; his parents, Robert and Shirley Singley, his mother-in-law, Donna Davis, his sister, Shelley (Richard) Burger, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends.
