Sandra Wynn Knott, age 80, of Seymour, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at her home.
Sandra was born on December 20, 1939 in Appanoose County, Iowa, the daughter of Wayne and Lois (Russell) Beer. She attended Centerville High School, graduating with the Class of 1958. On August 19, 1958, Sandra was united in marriage to Kermit Knott at the Zoar Church near Exline. To this union, three children were born, Rick, Kermit, and Kevin.
Sandra worked for Rockwell Radio for about a year, before she and Kermit relocated to Colorado for a period of time. In 1974, the couple moved back to Iowa. In 1992, they purchased the Chapperal Restaurant (formerly known as Al’s Café) on the northwest corner of the Seymour square. Sandra owned and operated this business with Kermit for 14 years until the business was sold, and Sandra retired. Throughout the years, the employees often referred to Sandra as mother- they loved her dearly.
Sandra enjoyed her flower gardens and bird watching. Most importantly, she loved her children and her grandchildren unconditionally.
Left to cherish Sandra’s memory are her husband of over 62 years, Kermit Knott of Seymour; her children, Rick Knott and friend, Jan Koenig of Marshfield, Wisconsin, Kermit Knott of Ottumwa, and Kevin (Shelly) Knott of Seymour; 7 grandchildren, Anthony Knott of Ottumwa, Rachel (Cory) Spees of Eldon, Melanie (Shannon) McCoy of Fremont, Lindsey (Buddy) Harsh of Bloomfield, and Gavin, Gracie, and Galen Knott of Seymour; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Beverly Beer of Arnold’s Park, and Berta Lee Eddy of Exline; surrogate grandchildren, Tim and Ann Ryan and Family of Seymour; and she also leaves behind her beloved furbaby, Sassy.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Beer; daughter-in-law, Debbie Knott; and great-grandson, Wolfgang Spees.
