Shelly enjoyed her Summers in the sun with friends and family on the beaches of Lake Rathbun. All that knew her loved her solar powered smile and her mermaid-like love of Lake Rathbun, especially while waitressing at Mapo’s with Janet Benton and the late Marsha Bonus. Mapo still says to this day, that they were 3 best waitresses they ever had. The trio and their great personalities were a draw for fun, laughter, and creating wonderful memories at Mapo’s.
On June 3, 1992 she was united to in marriage to Jeffrey Belloma and to this union, they were joined by children Ashley, Zachary, and Payton. Their family settled in Pella, Iowa and have continued to reside there. Shelly was a domestic engineer homemaker with much pride until her youngest child went off to school. At this time, she was the founder of “Little Learners Daycare” in Pella, Iowa. This is where she continued her love and her nurturing of children in the Pella community. Shelly operated a successful proprietor daycare business for the past 15 years, partnering with her daughter, Ashley Simmons. Shelly enjoyed building long lasting relationships with the families and children in the community that have attended Little Learners. She cherishes those great memories and relationships to this day. She continued her daycare until her health no longer allowed her to do so.
In her free time, Shelly enjoyed swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and anything on the water. On a recent trip to Sanibel Island, she discovered paddle boating. Shelly loved the outdoors, water glittering in the sunshine and nature. You could always find Shelly by a pool or a lake in the summer with her children and daycare kids. Shelly was a family woman, who loved her family immensely. Her love was hard and long. The apples of her eye were her 3 grandchildren; Tuesday, Carlynn and Milo. Any day or evening spent with her grandchildren was a blessed day for her. Anyone who knew Shelly, knew she was a social butterfly with wings of love and laughter about life. You just couldn’t dull that smile that lights up a room.
